Some of the problems can be fixed yourself but in a fewcases you may have to either replace or upgrade the memory.

How to troubleshoot and fixcomputer memory problems

1. Most problems are caused byincorrect installation of RAM. The memory modules should be fixedsecurely in the memory slot. They should be aligned properly with the notchesin the slot. The retaining clips should be fitted properly. Memory modulesinserted backward will cause permanent damage to both the memory module andmotherboard.

2. If new memory (RAMmodules) have been installed , check if the specifications match that of theRAM currently installed. For some motherboards, only identical memory modulescan be installed in adjacent slots of a motherboard.

3. Check the computer manual andinstallation instructions of the memory being used. If there even a smallproblem in RAM installation, there could be errors

4. Remove the memory and againreseat it. The problem may be due to loose contact and reseating will solve theproblem.

5.Most memory banks have at least 2slots for fitting memory modules. Try installing the memory module in anotherslot, it may start working.

6. Try installing some other memorymodule in the same slot. If the new memory module works, the old memory moduleis defective.

7. Sometimes if the computerpower supplies are not outputting enough power, the memory bus may not receiveenough power. So check if the power supply is working properly

8. Check if your computer RAM has gold plated modules thatlink to the slots. Any other metal used on RAM may get corroded by manyelements.

9. It is better to have 2 RAM than one. This will improveyour computer performance and they can supplement each other weakness.

10. Clean your RAM and RAM bank slots from dust and other dirt.

TRCB.com
