The vehicles running this type of gasoline also experience significantly higher fuel economy than those created in the past. Also, BMW has been using lighter materials in their vehicle manufacturing. BMW has additionally been working on enhancing their direct-inject and Valvetronic technologies for all of their vehicles, which further increases fuel economy.

In an effort to add a touch of luxury to the already-existing hybrid and electronic models available by other manufacturers, BMW is working on beefing up their selection of green cars. A hybrid vehicle, referred to as the ActiveHybrid series, and an electric car, the Concept 1, come with all the luxury and class that you would associate with BMW with added green technology.

At the Environmental Transport Association's Green Car Awards, BMW was recognized and praised on three different occasions for their eco-friendly point of view.
