It's been a great journey and you're excited to move on to the next phase of your life. You know you need to complete your education, but you're not ready to go to a regular college and sit in a classroom for four more years. Online college may be the best choice for you, because it will allow you to pursue other activities while you study.

You may not be exactly sure of what you want to do with your life after high school; maybe a four year degree at a regular college just isn't what you want. If that's the case, you may want to think about pursuing an online associate degree until you decide whether or not to pursue a four-year degree. An associate degree from an online college can be obtained in a very wide range of subjects. If you're undecided, you can pursue a liberal arts studies degree, or you may want to think about a technical degree that will lead you straight into a job after two years.

Another issue to take into consideration is the extra financial burden that comes with an on campus college experience. Dorm life isn't cheap and neither are those expensive meal plans. Even if you don't live on campus, you still have to commute back and forth. By attending an online college, you can get rid of expenses that just don't make sense for you or your family.

You may be a driven student who wants to get started right away in college; if so, then online college is probably going to be just right for you, because you can start right away if you want to. Also, at a regular college, freshmen usually don't get to register until all of the upperclassmen have done so. That leaves most freshmen with schedules and classes at difficult times, making it hard to get the things accomplished that you need to.

Students at online schools don't have to worry that they won't be able to get financial aid. FAFSA applications apply to accredited online schools and colleges too, so if you are awarded a Pell Grant or loan money, you can use it to pay your tuition without any problems. The deadlines for receiving FAFSA money apply to online schools, as well, so make sure you get your application completed well before the FAFSA, state, and school deadlines.

If you've been planning a backpacking trip through Europe for years, but your parents want you to go to school, online college can please both you and your parents. You can complete your class work in the off hours of exploring Rome or Paris, turning in your assignments on a schedule that suits your traveling itinerary. You may even be able to write an essay for one of your classes about your travels, describing the amazing architecture, or the business practices of small entrepreneurs at the village market place.

If you're a student who is self-supporting and needs to work a full-time job, an online degree can help you do just that. While you're busy working, you don't have to worry about missing classes that are on a day time schedule. You can complete your assignments and turn them in after work, when it's convenient for you and your employer. There's a good chance you may learn something in your online classes that may help you in your job, possibly improving your chances of a raise or promotion.

TRCB.com
