Let's face it.  We all have problems.  Problems are a part of everyday life, whether it is marital, financial, work or health related.  Sometimes some problems are so overwhelming they can cause extreme stress.  However, problems can be solved if you approach them in a positive light.

Start looking at problems as a way of improving your life by learning from them.  You can be sure not to make the same mistake again as well as you can help others who find themselves in a similar situation.

Here is some practical advice on how to overcome your problems.

  1. Find the root cause of the problem.  Finding the root cause would help you to find a solution easier.  For example, the cause for a child rebelling could be lack of attention.  Giving the child the attention he is looking for is just one step to solving this problem.  You need to ask yourself specific questions to find the root cause of a problem - what started it? Why? How bad has it become?  Etc.

  2. Don't blame others.  Some people generally blame others for their problems.  Granted, some problems involve other parties, however you need to accept the fact that you are also part of the problem.  This would also help you to quickly find a solution.

  3. Work out the best solution.  There can be more than one solution to a problem.  However in your quest to determine what the best solution is you need to ask yourself "how will this work out?" "who will be affected and how?" When you have thought out each scenario and are comfortable with a particular outcome, then proceed to implementation.

  4. Take action.  Take the necessary action to put this problem at rest once and for all.  Take the example of the rebellious child.  If the solution is to spend less time at work in order to spend more time with your child, then do just that immediately.  Don't delay and say "well, I'll start next week or next month" - start now! It may be a sacrifice but you'll have to explain to your employer your situation and you might be surprised at how understanding he'll be.  Some sacrifices have to be made in order to solve some problems.
