On Februrary 23, 2009, Kindle Smith was excited about the prospects of what the weekend lay in store for her. Little did she know that it would be her last time to wonder about that weekend or any other weekend. Regretably, Kindle Smith's car was hit head on by a pickup truck being operated by a drunk driver. Miss Smith died from injuries sustained from the accident. Over 400 people gathered at a candlelight vigil to pay their respects, and stand as a tribute to such a remarkable young lady. Many said they could not believe that such a bright light was now gone from the world. The good thing that came out of it was the gathering of family and friends as they leaned on each other for comfort and support in this trying time of need.

A memomorial sign was created to help remember this vivacious cheerleader who brought so much joy and happiness to so many. Unfortunately, the sign has been in place for a year, and the law says that the sign now has to be taken down. Steps are being taken to see about getting the law changed so that the sign can stay in place. Right now a physical petition is being circulated in order to help gather the 10,000 signatures needed to change the statute. The owner of Squads.com has also formulated an online petition for people as well to sign electronically to get the law change. The electronic version is legal, and many members of Squads.com are being directed to the petition to help lend their voice to help with this situation.

The owners of Squads.com has made the petition page accessible to everyone so that even those that are not members of Squads.com can do what they can to help keep this young woman's memory alive. Please go to http://www.squads.com/file/petition/ and follow the instructions there in order to help out with this situation. Please also mention this article to others that may be interested in helping out by lending their voice. The family and friends of Kindle Smith send their deepest thanks and appreciation for your help.
