The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets finished off 2008 with a 9-4 overall and 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference record. Everything was going great for Coach Paul Johnson and his crew; experts like Kirk Herbstreit were even jumping on Georgia Tech's bandwagon, calling them a "lock" to win their bowl game.

Georgia Tech, also known as the Georgia Institute of Technology, is home to the Yellow Jackets collegiate teams, represented by an ornery yellow bee called Buzz, who also serves as the team's mascot. They have a second mascot in the car dubbed the Ramblin' Wreck, which is actually an old Ford Model A.

Football and athletics always has seemed to be an "afterthought" at Georgia Tech. Education and the struggle for excellence has always been the priority at Georgia Tech.
