An individual or family can become poor due to being laid off from work, an act of nature like a hurricane, having a developmental disability or even been taken advantage of by mean and evil people.

Today's Proverb is about not taking advantage of the poor. It is perfectly all right to charge a reasonable rate interest to everyone, the poor included, but God does not want the poor to be taken advantage of. Those that do, He will take their blessings and give it to those who help the poor.

Many people define success as how many toys one has. This definition of success is based totally on materialism. It says that the most redeeming feature of one who loves the world is that their lives helped the economy. Surly life is more than about owing things, the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and boastful pride based on what you have.

Being broke is a condition that many people are faced with this time of year. The Holidays are jam packed with food, family, friends, and frustrations. We desire to be, have, and buy all that will make our loved ones and ourselves happy, but we are usually long on want lists and short on cash. It is easy to fall prey to the seduction of buying on unlimited credit and having to face the unrelenting bills long after the momentary joy is gone.
