One state that appears to be handling the current economic recession better than others is North Carolina. According to the U.S. Census, it just surpassed New Jersey to become the ninth wealthiest state in the country. It sports a very balanced variety of industries, from agriculture to advanced research, even if the state has lost manufacturing jobs from “off shoring.” It also contains a number of fine universities and colleges, supported through a number of grants and other financial aid.

While many jobs may seem stable in a given moment, the truth is that each and everyday we face the unlikely chance of the unexpected happening. Over the past year, the recession has shown that even the most sturdy and reliable jobs can be lost. This experience has left many American's struggling and seeking employment in the midst of economic hardship and they're finding that the job markets are now more competitive than ever.
