Checking out the HP LaserJet 2420 printer using HP LaserJet 2420 toner will quickly show a prospective customer that Hewlett-Packard has made yet another model aimed squarely at the heart of small office/networked workgroup market and it largely succeeds. It combines excellent print speed and print quality together to deliver a model that actually isn't all that expensive, relatively-speaking.

By and large, one should look at the 2420 as a workhorse printer, able to do most anything well and at volumes that several other printers in this competitive segment of the printer market can't match on a head-to-head basis. For starters, it prints out at 30 pages every 60 seconds, which is a nice, high print speed sure to please most any workgroup. This should help to gladden the heart of any business owner interested in workgroup productivity.

Additionally, the HP 2420 also delivers a very nice end product, meaning that the quality of the printed material will be excellent across the board. With a 1,200 x 1,200 dots-per-inch print resolution, there'll be little complaint from any users or from the people who end up having to read or view anything printed by this device. HP is justifiably known for its print resolution, by the way.

Much of this is owed to HP's proprietary image enhancement technology software, which the company dubs Hi ProRes 1200 in this model. It's all managed via an interior included microprocessor that works at 400 MHz, which is all the printer needs to take advantage of the 32 MB of RAM included onboard as well. This means all print jobs will be assessed, produced and displayed very quickly.

It's easy enough to connect this machine to a new or already-established workgroup through either of its two wired connection capabilities. The LaserJet 2420 comes standard with a nice high speed USB connection port and a more-traditional (and older) parallel port. Keep in mind that the printer doesn't come with a USB cable, so stop over at the next aisle and grab one on the way out of the store.

This HP printer can also print out on a wide variety of paper stock and media types, including plain paper of various sizes as well as envelopes, transparencies, bond paper and recycled paper, which is something many other printers cannot accomplish. It can also hold 350 sheets onboard, 250 of which will fit in an auto load tray.

The LaserJet 2420 is certified to run on Windows Vista, and it can make use of various other Windows platforms and Mac OS 9.X or later and 10.X or later. It'll be a very easy printer to join to most any platform, in other words. Really, it will do fine on Windows 98 and later, so there should be little concern about the operating system currently being run.

In all, and for a price of about 500 dollars retail (before discounts), getting a workgroup laser printer of such high-speed printing capability (30 ppm) and with a rated monthly duty cycle of 75,000 pages, it's hard to find much to quibble over when it comes to the HP LaserJet 2420 printer. For those looking for a personal printer that can print out at high speed, this may also be the printer to consider as well.

Consumables for this printer, specifically HP LaserJet 2420 toner, are easy to find online at any qualified retailer for HP toner. Saving money is always a smart business decision and why not extend this to the toner you use daily?
