Aracena is located in the northern tip of the Sevilla province of Andalucia in the South of Spain. It is the town located on the highest peak of the Sierra Morena with a population of about 10,000 people.

One of the attractions in the town of Aracena is the Gothic-Mudejar church called Iglesia del Castillo. This particular church was erected on top of the ruins of a Moorish Castle by the Knights Templar.

The Gruta de las Maravillas is considered to be the main tourist attraction of Aracena. It is an impressive cave that is considered to be the largest in the entire Spain. The cave was believed to be discovered accidentally by a young boy who was wandering around in searching for his lost pig. Tourists can take guided tours around the cave and explore the many magnificent structures and chambers inside. There are also several restaurant located along the entrance to the cave that serve excellent food. While sampling the local cuisine, make it a point to try their jamon, local asparagus as well as the snails.

The production of "jamon" is a major industry in the town or Aracena. The curing factory for the jamon is located in Jabugo. While sampling the different kinds of jamon of Aracena, be sure to taste the Jamon Serrano or the mountain ham which is considered to one of the best jamon in Spain. The jamon de bellotas or acron-fed ham is also another great jamon that is made in Morena. It is a common sight to see lots of pigs grazing underneath the acorn trees. The pigs eat the acorns that fall off the trees and get fattened up for the butcher's block to be made into the jamon de bellotas.
