The "Shades of Green" resort is a recreational retreat for active and retired military personnel; to members of the Reserves (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard), the National Guard, and the Department of Defense employees and their families.

The 586-room Military exclusive Resort is located near the Grand Floridian. The only downside to this resort is that "Magical Express" along with the Monorail service is not available to guests but on the upside all alternate transportation around WDW is readily available.

The resort property hosts three golf courses, (The Palm, The Magnolia, and the Oak Trail) which are open to all WDW guests. The resort features hotel only guest activities, two tennis courts, health club, two pools, arcade, restaurant, bar and lounge, gift shop, and laundry facilities.
