Wheelchairs and scooters are available for rental at the parks on a first come/first serve basis. Disney also offers length-of-stay wheelchair rentals for a discounted rate if you sign up for two or more days. These are also on a first come/first serve basis. If you need a rental only certain days, ask for a coupon book for the number of days. You do not need to be a Disney resort guest.

If a Disney scooter breaks down, it will be replaced on the spot. You don't have to take your scooter to the next park you visit; just get one at the new park on the original rental for the day.

Disney rents power scooters with a refundable deposit. Disney also works with two outside companies that do scooter rentals: Care Medical (1-800-741-2282) and Walker Medical (1-888-scooter). Both companies have a minimum two-day rental policy. Discounts may be given if you rent a scooter for the week. These can be reserved in advance. They deliver to any local hotels for free, but they do not deliver to the parks.

Most Disney shuttle busses are set up to handle the scooters; sometimes you may have to wait for one with the larger door opening and larger lift platform. If you are staying off-site, check with the hotel to see if their shuttle service is set up to handle the power scooters. Both companies also offer wheelchair rentals.

If you have your own electric transport, most airlines will gate check it for you if you make the proper arrangements ahead of time.

If your person with disability plans to ride an attraction, ask the ride attendant for instructions; usually, the person with the disability and their party are allowed to enter from a special entrance that is often located at the exit side.

If you have a state-issued parking permit for disability, be sure to bring it so you can park at the front entrance and avoid riding the tram.

At Guest Relations, pick up their "Guide for Guests with Disabilities" and a Guest Assistance Card.
