You probably know the fact that search engines look favorably upon article directories as a great source of quality content. This is partially true because it all depends on the popularity of the article directory and its editorship. If there is a single piece of plagiarized article, search engines will halt their favorable approach to them. However, big article sharing sites like hubpages.com, trcb.com and ezinearticles.com are still the apple of Google's eye.

To make sure your site ranks well in the search engines - your money keywords, the first step is to find the keywords that are searched by people interested in your niche. Use online tools like www.spyfu.com, wordtracker.com and/or EliteSeo (software) to find the right keywords that correspond to the product/service you are offering. Once you compile a list of important keywords (at least 10 keywords), you need to integrate those keywords in your article to get a ranking for those keywords.

Trace the following steps to the letter to make sure your articles are SEO'd properly for search engine rankings or SERPs:

Integrate the keyword in the topic - The foremost thing is to integrate your most important or big traffic keyword in the heading of the article. For example, you have chosen ‘car interior design' as your primary keyword. You need to place the keyword in the beginning. ‘Car interior design - 10 easy steps to pimp up your car'

Integrate the keyword in the first paragraph - To optimize your article, you need to integrate your primary keyword 2 to 3 times in the first paragraph and your secondary keywords 1 to 2 times. This is important because search engine spiders crawling the web check the first paragraph after the heading

Check the ratio of keyword occurrence - Your primary keyword and secondary keywords should make up 3.4% of the entire article. For example, if your article is 500 words long, the primary keywords should occur 6 to 9 times in the article and other keywords, 14 to 18 times.

Originality is a must - your article should be originally written by you. This is important. Do not copy paste from other articles to create a unique article. It can be a favorable instance after you have submitted 50 to 70 unique articles. Write your own article or hire ghostwriters to write your articles.

Linking your website - Link your website to the primary keyword in the article; however only do this once. Many article directories like ezinearticles.com don't accept articles that are linked to a website multiple times. Make sure you describe your product/service in the author box along with your name. In the author resource box, you can put the primary keyword as the linking text to your website.

It entirely depends on the niche your product is related to and the number of articles you submit each month. If you submit 30 articles each month for a very competitive keyword, you might increase the SERPs of your website significantly. However consistency and patience are the keys. Do not abandon article marketing only because your keyword is very competitive and you cannot see your website in the first 10 pages.
